I make myself a boost or what some people call a smoothie, every morning. What I put in it may vary, but my favourite is this one.
½ cup frozen organic blueberries
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
½ tsp himalaya salt
2 tbsp chia seeds, soaked in water overnight*
1 tbsp Sprouted Brown Rice Protein – I use NOW
½ tsp ground cinnamon (Ceylon)
1 tsp Green PhytoFoods from NOW
1-2 tsp Acacia Fiber from NOW, certified organic**
1 ½ cup of organic rice milk – or plant milk of your choice
Mix for 30 seconds in a good blender and enjoy.
*I usually put a small layer of chia seeds in a jar with a good lid, fill it up with lukewarm water (boiled) and store it in my fridge. I make a large enough portion to last me for a few days. The seeds can actually last like this up to a week. Chia seeds are high in soluble fiber, highly nutrient dense, contain plenty of healthy fats, and are a great source of phosphorous, calcium and manganese.
**Acacia Fiber is harvested from the sap of the Acacia tree, which is native to parts of Africa Pakistan, and India. Using soluble fiber, as part of the diet, can help encourage intestinal regularity. It also acts as a prebiotic that supports the vitality of the microorganisms that help maintain a healthy GI environment. Acacia Fiber is well tolerated and can be used daily.
The label suggests 1 tbsp, but it’s important to start with a smaller dosage, while you find out how your body tolerates it.
